Teen Volunteers

How do I volunteer at the Library?

The Library offers a variety of volunteer opportunities for young people ages 11-17. Signing up to be a volunteer is simple:

  • Download the teen volunteer application or pick up an application at the Youth Services Desk.
  • Complete the form.
  • Ask your parent or guardian to sign the application.
  • Return the application to the Youth Services Desk.

What kind of work will I be doing?

Most of our volunteer opportunities involve lending a hand at Library events for younger kids. Our events cover many subjects and themes, so you can choose whichever sounds most fun to you!  Typical duties for event volunteers include:

  • Offering assistance and encouragement to event participants
  • Helping set up and clean up
  • Collecting supplies and running errands within the Library
  • Being in charge of one game or activity at a larger event

To view upcoming events and sign up as a volunteer, stop by the Youth Services Desk. If you urgently need volunteer hours and can’t wait for our next event date, we can usually (but not always) provide alternate volunteer options. These may include:

  • Dusting
  • Wiping down toys or furniture
  • Preparing materials for craft projects
  • Tidying bookshelves

If you need a signature or note as proof of your participation, we are happy to provide it.
